Obduktion - with Takis - 2009

A band with many problems but also with good musical ideas. I am talking about Obduktion. Takis (Guitar) is answering my questions...

All these years we tried to develop a unique id in our sound and at this time I think we have finally achieved that...

Takis (Obduktion) - 2009

It’s been a long time passed since the release of your latest album. Let us know if you would change anything right now.
I totally agree, it’s been a long time, but I don’t think we would change something. We had to face some problems with line-up changes, and that delayed our work, but we were active all this time, being on stage and preparing the new stuff.  Maybe some decisions should have been made earlier but that’s all.

The production of your release surely didn't help your songs. Tell us few things about this and what are your ideas in order to solve this problem in your future releases.
In the latest album we gave a rawer and “in your face” sound to our songs, a more aggressive attitude combined with brutal feeling. This is the main reason that someone could find the production a little dull. All these years we tried to develop a unique id in our sound and at this time I think we have finally achieved that. The reviews for Obduktion “II” were really encouraging so far, so I’ll have to disagree a little bit. Of course, as our purpose is to become better and better, we’ll try to give to our future productions higher and more professional standards and I can assure you that we are working on this issue.

On the other hand, you have a professional layout in your booklet. Tell us few things about your graphics and if the cover has anything to do with the lyrics.
I’ll have to thank Necrotormentor from Enshadowed, he did a really good job with the layout and gave life to the lyrics through his pictures. As you can see in the front cover there is a man pointing a gun in someone’s head. But is really someone there or it’s just an illusion of his mind? A split personality, a schizophrenic or just a normal man? In the lyrics you’ll find a man struggling, suffocating, kicking and screaming, trying to reach salvation. But truly, can anyone find salvation? Obduction in German means autopsy and here we have a man doing an autopsy of himself and what he finds out really scares the hell out of him. So it is a concept idea and the whole layout is based on the lyrics.

As far as I can see, there is a picture of someone that tries to commit a suicide. Do you accept this idea?
Of course not. As a band we really are against the suicide thing. Personally I can’t accept suicide as a solution or even as a last resort, but there are cases that I can comprehend the reasons forcing someone to commit a suicide. The truth is that if you don’t have the guts to do it, then just live.

Finish the interview with your future plans. Thanks!
We will enter the studio to record the new Obduktion album during May and we hope it will be released right after summer. The good news is that Robert Kovacic (Belphegor, Scaffold) will record the drums and we are really excited about that. Obduktion will also support mighty Asphyx in the 7th of June in Athens. That’s all for now, stay tuned! I thank you too!
