DEEP PURPLE - May 2011 - Athens Greece

VENUE: Basketball Stadium - Elliniko

A legendary band like Deep Purple crosses the Greek lands and that is very rare nowadays... The crowd filled the stadium in order to watch the big event. They didn't know what will follow...

The wellknown Greek rocker Vasilis Papakonstantinoy opened the show and like I was expected it was a good choice. Same man opened the shows of SCORPIONS 2 years ago. He started with the track "Sfentona" and he continued with his personal hits. The cover song "Sebastian" with the original lyrics of Chris De Burgh was really outstanding and the help of the female drummer & singer Tania Kikidi gave a plus to the final result.

Deep Purple

Deep Purple step upon the stage but after a while I was wondering if indeed they were on stage... Their performance was bad. Ian Gillan couldn't sing, Glover wasn't there because his wife born his child and Morse forgot to stop the guitar solos. Annoying and I can say I thought that next day show would be a torture... The "show" last more or less 2 hours...
